Type approval certification
The Consorzio BANCOMAT has dedicated more than ten years to setting up a complex suite of regulations and controls able to guarantee fast, secure transactions using microchip technology.
Type approval certification consists in verifying microchip product or process compliance with Consorzio BANCOMAT requirements and is granted on passing the related test phases.
Type approval processes are regulated between the CA (CA below), i.e. a bank, service or terminal or card vendor, and the Consorzio BANCOMAT on the basis of a specific Agreement, which specifies the General Terms and Conditions of the relationship, and specific Operations Manuals for each type approval layer and which are published on the sit.
The cost of each type approval process is defined at single expense estimate level, drawn up by the Consortium for each type approval layer according to the price list in force at that specific time.
All the technical documentation and related forms, divided according to new, renewal, or exstension of type approval certification, are available on the site
If the Holding company of a banking group intends to centralise management of certificates, acting as Single Approval Reference of a number of approval applications in the name of different banks of the Group, the Consortium must be notified beforehand.
For prior assessment of the possibility of obtaining approval of its product/process, the CA may prefer to carry out Chip Card, POS Terminal, ATM Terminal and Authorising process pre-approval tests independently, according to a checklist that can be downloaded from the specific sections of this site.
At the CA’s request, the Consortium provides a specific Consultation service, billed separately, to provide assistance with the various approval processes.

Official documentation, for which specific signature is required, must be in writing or sent via certified e-mail.
Also for operational reasons, documents sent via uncertified e-mail must comply precisely with those forwarded by normal mail. Therefore, please indicate “True copy of the original sent by e-mail” on the hard-copy document. In the case of discrepancy, the contents of the hard-copy form signed by the company will be considered valid.
Compilation of the forms necessarily involves communication of personal data. The Consortium undertakes to process this data in accordance with the privacy policy of this site and the Law on Privacy (Legislative Decree No. 196/03).
Any references in documentation or forms to the Microcredit Project Association or to COGEBAN shall be considered, according to context, as referring to the Consorzio BANCOMAT.
